12v wallwarts will go up to like 15V under lower loads, and will be find for charging, aslong as you rate it at c/10 and don't leave it for longer than 12hours.

i had a 12v lead acid battery charger. i hooked it to the photoflash inverter for my coilgun, and something fried!. i checked it on a multimeter 15vdc and 22vac!! i think the AC fried the circuit. i screwed up the polarity, so that may have had something to do with it.

main point: don't trust wall warts with anything sensative!.

sidenote: it did electrolosise (sp?) quite well. (i was making NaClO3 (sodium chlorate) from NaCl (salt)maybe use your un-regulated wall wart instead of the battery for the electrolysis

If it was a photo flash inverter from a disposable camera then it would fry because they arn't ment to have 12V put into them.

Yay for voltage regulators.

Yuasa (batteries) and Texas Instruments (ICs) both have battery charging application notes. Diggin around on the Yuasa site should yield some good information
