So i finished base and electronics for my demo coil. While waiting for my shipment of 500 IRFP460-s arrive from Japan amazed i decided to try E class just for fun with only 1 IRFP i have.

So here is setup and output on 80 VDC. Basically i charged from HV supply 400 V caps so it was like single shot but cap had enought energy for few bursts. Little HV supply cant supply enough current for coil to work constantly.

At end i decided to push the coil to 440 V ( i was scare to push electrolitycs more) and i dont think mosfet would survive even little more. At that voltage i managed to acchieve more than 35 cm sparks. WOW.

After 10 bursts i heard BANG. Poor mosfet died and that was end of fun.

I stole secondary from audio modulated SSTC. So i need to wind secondary for my coil more, make primary, hook up a full bridge and enjoy.

Im just thinking should i try secondary base feedback? Circuit is my modification of Steves self resonanting driver (mini SSTC)

Yes directly from the manufacturer. I'm not still sure about price because i only swifted the money and now waits customs, taxes, spedition and so on. I think when they come they will cost me 3 $ a piece. In Croatia one piece is usually 12 $ if you order trough companies which represent Farnell or 6 $ if you find it els were but in 99 % cases its fake

Hey to all. Proceded with demo coil and have some questions.

I tested only for fun with halfbridge (waiting for my GDT cores to arrive from USA). For first time i tried secondary base feedback.

Coil works fine nd better then with antena feedback but cant draw ground sparks. Is it normal or i messed something ? I get arc of same lenght but not with same power (verry thin spark).

I pushed in heatsink and it should be fired this weekend with fullbridge and 400 V. Still thinking howmany primarly turns will be a safe margin. I also added cool line filter with fuse wich cant be changed until ling voltage is removed.
