The internal diode is fine as long as you are in tune. Steve Conner build his DWSSTC with no schottky or fast diodes and it worked fine Link2 .

Those are only needed when running an open-loop system, but since everyone uses feedback drivers these days, it's ok not to use them.

If you want your mosfets to live, you'll have to switch to a feedback driver. Or seriously limit the power...

Is it possible to adapt feedback to NE555 driver? Maybe a antenna with resistors and 74HC14 in series to NE55's output? But it would mess with NE555's signal..

The top waveform is the gate. I don't have any other pictures of gate waveforms under real conditions.
