The most compact electric lighter you can get that will even compare to like a butane cigarette lighter will be just a li-poly battery and a piece of nichrome with a switch. Even that will be much bulkier and lower power than a butane lighter. A HV electric arc will require a small flyback or something and be even more bulky and less efficient, as well as requiring even more power (so shorter battery life) to do the same thing since it loses more to radiation. The moral of the story is, if you want an electric lighter than can match the compactness and performance of a $1 butane lighter, that's just too bad; we haven't even come close unless you go to something that runs off a power cord.

These li-poly batteries I speak of will cost between $20 and $50 for the size range you need, plus a special charger, and they can be dangerous if shorted or overcharged (yes, they really will blow up just as violently as a butane lighter, and it's much easier to make it happen). They are the only type of battery on the market today which is even close to suitable, nonetheless. A 12V (11.1V nominal, 12.6V full charge) 2200mA one is still several times larger than a typical butane lighter, and has a similar energy capacity, and retails for about $50. They are great for any number of small high power electric devices, but for lighting stuff, it looks like gas fueled devices will be around for quite awhile.

Can you at least try to write readable posts? Capital letters and punctuation would be a good start.

I C. Be clear and concise. Do not type ALL IN CAPS, do not use 1337-5p33k, and do not type everything in long run on sentences with no breaks or punctuation because theyre very hard to follow along with and we all dont like them. :) :o ::) ??? :-[ :P ;D :D ;) If you have a problem with spelling, spell-check your posts.

If you're doing anything illegal, at least please dont mention it here:
I D. Be careful where the law is concerned. Script kiddies, 1337 hax0rz, kewl bomb kidz, etc, begone. This isn't the Jolly Roger's cookbook, or a warez site. Take that kind of stuff somewhere else. Some of what we discuss here may be illegal in certain states, or countries. If you don't think you should be posting it, don't. If you don't know if you should be reading it, don't. You are always responsible for being aware of the laws in your area. This site has a right and a responsibility to defend free speech; we won't censor anyone unless we are forced to. In return, we ask that you defend the site by being aware of your own legal rights and responsibilities.

II E. Make sure each post has a point. Unless you're in the chatting board, there's no need for a one-liner post that doesn't have any real content. Save the one-liners and offhanded comments for private messages.
