Hi guys, I have at least 15 HV NPN transistors of different sizes from old monitors at home without any practical use. Recently I run into this circuit involving a use of HV NPN transistor for SSTC. I’d like to know your opinion; the guy on the web page (sorry it is in Czech) built this system which worked fine till 40V than he experienced transistor death(B-E breakdown, B-C cutoff). Dou you think this scheme could be remade for higher voltages involving TVS? I’d like to disscus this…

This circuit has no meaning nowadays. The output is poor and efficiency too (horizontal output transistor are useless for anything >50khz). If you use MOSFET bridge (with the fets you get for the same price as the HOT), you can multiply the output spark size several times.
