I had rescently made a 0.1uf cap banks yousing theese capacitors along with 10mohm 1/4watt bleeders across each cap. well when it was all finished and dipped in oil when i hooked it up to my coil the spark gap wasent firing. Well after messing around with it for a bit i tried the draw an arc method. Turns out to be that the spark across the cap bank looks just like what is coming from my nst. now i should get a nice white pop if the caps were working but the sparks lok like there is a dead short someware but there is not. Any suggestions on why this is doing this or how to fix it because it sure has me scratching my head

You are better off using as many series resistors as possible e.g. 3 x 1/4W 3M3 in series is better than one 10M 1W resistor use as many in series per capacitor as your patience/space allows OR buy HV resistors.

You could just get rid of those bleed resistors all together -I've been using CDE942C series capacitors without resistors on high power coils for years now. Resistors tend to dissipate more than just charge after the circuit is turned off totally...during firing I've noticed that these resistors bleed away a sizable amount of power too.

getting rid of the resistors is probably the best solution because the way my setup is it would be a pain to replace them. PS the only reason they are there is so i live longer
