Nice pictures. I was never able to get large sparks from my ignition coil since it arced over so easily. I should have sunk mine in oil too.

Nice pics. My ignition coil started sparking over at below 20kV so I trashed it. Now I regret it, I could have extracted the internals and put them under oil.

Nice effects. Forgive my ignorance, but what fluids are in the glass, and I can't make out the arrangement of all the electrodes from the pics.

It is just tap water... The glass is standing on aluminium plate which is connected to the minus of the coil. HV out goes either via piece of wire or through the bulb.

BTW I tried with my finger to touch the bulb (like playing with plasma ball) and I received shock like form a stun gun and burned my finger. It is not a toy apparently... smile
