Hi HV freaks, I've posted circuit scheme for fly-back few days ago, now I connected the same circuit to a car ignition coil. The coil is inside a coke botle filled with normal cooking oil... This time the TVS are becoming pretty hot after 20s of operation (this is not happening while driving the fly-back). There must be horrible pikes induced in the primary. I think that with sufficient cooling of the TVS this could be simple and efficient way of driving ignition coils easilly reaching voltages over 50KV. Any questions and comments welcomed...
Operation freq: 6KHz

Pretty nice arcs from a single coil. You should try driving two in antiparallel.
But please don't use a lighter as a measure for the spark lenght: "Zap, Whoosh/BOOM!"
