For high schoolers in the US:
I remember on the old board there was a thread about the DOE Science Bowl in America. Has anyone here competed in it? I just competed today, we played 8 teams in our division, and won all of them (most by a landslide). We won the semi-finals by a landslide, and the final game was pretty close (we lost to another school by two points last year) but we ended up winning by 16 or so points. Anyone else?
I noticed this year, there was NO computer science, and a TON of circuitry. I think that in one game, there were 3 circuitry questions - not that i'm complaining [img]

I participated in this. We owned about four teams by a huge margin (one game was 150 to 4 or such) in the round-robin part, then got owned in the double-elimination rounds. I was disappointed that there were no CS questions...

Yeah they took it out this year. We knew about it in October at our school so we ignored those
My team got into the double elimination and lost after I randomly guessed "X" with 10 seconds left and the question Reading: "What is the --" I was right, but the bonus question was something weird about nucleation. We guessed sublimation - Doh!
Our best team made it into the final round and lost twice in a row. Pretty darn close overall.
