Often speaking to real people can be a valuable complement to using search engines. For instance, now Sulaiman has mentioned that he built a simple robot kit called the Cybot, you can (and should) google for the term "Cybot" and see what comes up. I did and saw dozens of interesting links such as this

This wasn't a lazy attempt at fishing for information. I searched all afternoon and came up with alot of books to be purchased but not many plans....I just wanted to know what everone else has accomplished....thanks for all that positively posted....

If you go to the previous page of my car, there is a schematic then you just need to know how to write your code in the Keil compilier. The hardest part is dealing with the 8255, because its very slow in comparison to the 8051, so you have to pad everything with delays or else everything stops working properly.

I saw one that used a LM324 a couple of LED's and a couple of CDS cells. It was really simple. Just a comparator and two voltage dividers which the CDS cells were a part of. The comparator compared the resulting voltages between the two CDS receptors. I've got the shematic, but I can't find it right now. But it was simpler than some other stuff I saw skimming though. I can dig it up if you want.
