I think squirrels must vex Moms everywhere. I like watching my 83 year old mom chase them off her feeders. Here is website for commercial 'Yankee Flipper' spinning feeder with video goodness.

That is hilarious! cheesey BTW if you don’t want to see a pile of dead squirrels use a BIG cap bank.

That was a joke. What I would do is wire a small alarm to the feeder and a weight switch. The noise will scare them off. I love small animals, don’t hurt them, they have no defense. If you wire electricity to the feeder they may die, not learn any thing. Don’t get them wet ether they can get sick very easily. Frist try moving the feeder before wiring any thing to it. The birds will follow and the squirrels will have trouble finding it.

I don't think the buzzer would work. Squirrels figure things out pretty well. My dog barks at the squirrels on the bird feeder hanging right outside our window. They used to run away but they figured out the dog can't get out so now they just stay and eat. Also, a number of squirrels figured out that they could get into our squirrel-proof feeder by hanging upside-down on the screen window and eating out of the trough! I swear if I can find the picture I'll post it. 0micron, good point about not getting them wet.

its about 7 feet high and we have tried that already! the never ending cycle of trapping squirrels, taking them to the park a few miles away, trapping more squirrels.

what i did was take a small 12 volt ccfl inverter, connect it to a small 12 volt transformer with a pot to control the input. and put it all inside of a plastic weather proof box. max current shorted is in the uA range(measured with meter), tingles when i touched it, but it doesnt hurt. needless to say, the squirrels dont go on it anymore!

its funny to watch them sit on the branch trying to figure out how to get some seeds, while the birds are feeding thier faces

Natural selection. If the squirrels eat all the seed, then they will prevail!

Can you post a Pic, How many volts? As I look out the window I see about 20 of the little guys. How cute.
