Flybacks are gapped from factory, no disassembly required.

What are transistors used in PWM section? It's about last uzzor's scheme.

The gate/GDT drive transistors are BD139's and BD140's in every schematic. I'll get around to updating the schematics soon.

True, BUT adding extra space increases the self-resonant frequency of the transformer, giving better results at higher frequencies.

Spedy, get parts for the Mazzilli and one of the 555 drivers. The Mazzilli driver will probably be easiest to hook up correctly the first time, but if you're more fond of sparks the 555 drivers are the way to go. IMO the 555 driver performance is pretty good.

Thanks. Yah, I'm getting a bunch of flybacks and I know where to get acrylic sheet cheap AND the extra ferrite cores. This is going cool.

Thanks. I'll look around, but I have no ATX's.... Would is be possible to make my own? I have no idea how to measure uH's....
If you need the core, or any other parts for the circuit, I have them available in my sale/trade thread If you need just a core, it is $1, with the wire is $5, + shipping.

Really? cool. I'll see if I can scrounge most of the stuff up; If I can't find what I need I'll go there.

Ok, this question is a little of-topic, but I'm Wondering if I should post my "Tesla Coil" project here or at the TC forum. It isn't exactly a resonant xformer, as it dumps 1 or two caps through a couple of pulse coils to get a spark between the output terminals. It's Info-Unimited's "Mini Tesla Lightning generator" kit. I just wanted to document the building it here.

Not to hijack the thread but on the same subject. Did I wire this flyback right. I have 3 turns of 22 awg and 5 turns of 18 awg.

hi.
Im having problems with a mazzilli circuit. basically, there is definately a prety high power output, as i can draw a white hot plasma arc with it, but for some reason, it wont charge capacitors. well, it will, just very, very slowley. the other odd thing is there is no sound whatsoever coming from it. no hi pitched wining like you ususally get from a transformer, or anything.

im thinking it is either running at too higher frequency, or there's somthing wrong with the way im rectifing it.

my circuit is exactly the same as on uzzors site, but with a 4.7uF capacitor, and without the comparitors, ie. just the basic driver itsself.

thanks.

The caps you try to charge are in a tesla coil circuit? Maibe you set the gap too large.
It is a DC flyback or you have to use an external HV diode? If it is external maibe it is broken and you have high frequency output from the flyback.

no, just capacitors on thier own, that i plan on using for a coilgun. i'm not sure if theres a diode built into it, but i tried charging the caps without a diode, then with, and neither worked.

what do you mean "high frequerncy output form the flyback"?

the capacitors are 450V 330uF each.

In regards to the mazilli driver, you can get the inductor, the IGBTs, the ultra fast diodes and if you are lucky the resistors from the power supply boards in plasma tvs.
Just ask nicely in a tv repair shop. (And don't mention hv)
