Yeah sure, build a bomb but watch out, especially for your hands and eyes! ive seen those caps exploding like little handgranates. dont know, maybe german microwaves have other caps inside, taywan or so, where the american ones are produced in china and cant explode that way.

Steve, I have recently come across a MO cap that appears to have an internal diode. The cap has a schematic printed on the lable and there was absolutely no external diode present anywhere to be found. The date on the microwave was 1984.

WARNING
These caps tend to rupture when you short them. I'm guessing the diode goes bang and the discharge current has enough energy to burst the can. I've seen a few blow up explosively and catch fire. BE VERY CAREFUL!

This thread with all the pros and cons goes nowhere and as i remember are explosives and other dangerous things not a part of discussing in this forum. its like a "how to blow my hands off" thread or a "how can i kill myself with sillyness". im for closing this thread immediatly...
