Hello. I intend to build a disc based version of a pelletron or van der graaff. In some ways it's a bit like a wimshurst machine. I have drawn a diagram of my proposal and put it here:
I would much appreciate it if you could take a look at it and tell me if there are any flaws in the design which would reduce its efficiency or stop it from working as intended.

If the voltage were to reach hundres of kilovolts sparks would jump every where or the setup would have to be pretty darn big. You could go with a voltage multiplier if your goal is to make a dielectic break down. I would agree if it were to be over 50KV I would make sure there were no sharp edges as not to make corona which would leak charge and would make the setup less efficient.
