simple audio modulator

 		will this work for a simple audio modulator to use into an OCD DRSSTC it would be nice to know so I can have it ready for tonight.

 		It looks like it would\might work, I'm no expert on audio circuits, if all else fails and you aren't expecting HD audio, just use a simple npn single transistor amp.

 		I would put a DC blocking capacitor on the input and small pull up resistor on the (+) to help keep the trigger off when there is no audio being fed.

 		The problem is the lack of proper duty cycle control. Not only that, but your circuit should really have about -1.5V bias on the -V pin. Otherwise, your audio signal might need to be 1V or more to actually trigger the comparator (and normally it isn't such large amplitude). Also, you dont want to try and play too much musical "data" at once on a DRSSTC. It sounds best as a "monophonic" device, so only 1 note (dont try to play a normal song through it, it will sound bad).

Have the comparator output trigger a 555 timer to give you a specific output pulse length.

 		is there a simple whay to create the negative voltage bias I finished the 555 integration and will post updates soon but I don't understand of an easy way to create the negative bias voltage.

 		Looks cool. What would be the resistor between pins 8 and 4 on the LM311. I would like to build one if it works because it would be nice to have.

 		ok so here is a audio file I recorded of the output of the modulator of the super mario theme you can barely make it out but you can see the square waves with an audio editing program it has so much distortion I need help working out how to remove it.
