Below is the link to the SSTC that was feaured on Future Weapons. It was called the stun strike. In the video, you can see a secondary form on the back shelf.

Or we could try replicating this monster on a small scale:
Now that's a weapon! I suspect that a direct hit with one of those things would be deadly to electronics and the shockwave from expanding plasma wouldn't be pleasant either.

Sure foot-long streamers are scary, but a bunch of RF burns won't stop a determined attacker. But I know what would. I remember a thread awhile back by EastVoltResearch, called Supersize Your Minicoil. Now THAT would stun the hell out someone, if not kill them! And talk about intimidating, I bet it would sound like M-80s exploding continuously!
I know he wrote this for an SGTC, but I'm pretty sure it could be configured for solid-state (and non-lethality).
yeah hell i know if i was running through a door i would run past the "stun strike" and not even notice it till i got home and got in the shower lol i do it at work all the time..
I'm a chef so i burn myself and you don't even notice till the hot water hits it and you go WTF to yourself
as for the laser..
good idea but you need to be almost as accurate as a gun anyway in fact you have to hit the eyes...
why not have a really powerful flash on the gun and as soon as you see the bad guy shut your eyes and hit the flash then BANG shoot the bad guy lol
