Im glad to see you got it all fixed up (your last email sounded *bad*).

Keep tweaking it, you should be able to get some longer sparks from those IGBTs if you are careful.

I have recently with added heat sinks gotten 20" spray at a higher BPS and 86% AC in. I should be able to reach 30" at 100% AC in. tonight I will have better pics tonight. thanks so much for the help.

edit

guess what I got 34" during the day at full power and the half bridge of 30N60 isn't even getting warm I cain't wait to get good photos.

From what I gather you secondary is 4.25 in dia, and 9 in tall, correct is it bigger? If it is 4.25x9 then either those arcs look much smaller then they actually are, or something else because those arcs look in no way 18+ in (no offense). Either way the coil looks awesome.

Yea, the noise is a killer, but as for what I asked about the arcs now I can see the lengths, and it looks good.

what would every one think of adding another .2uf of tank capacitance with the same half bridge currently the IGBTS can run with out heat sink maybe I can beat the spark length for a half bridge of wimpy (not really wimpy) IGBTs. Im ok with killing them they wont die I have run them at longest pulse duration and BPS at 100% AC in and I cant kill them not in the day I am getting repeated 36" arcs witch I will photograph tonight with a better camera and stand.

I just successfully played the Indiana johns theme song with the tesla coil and it sounds really good I will post a vid tonight

edit

I tried to play classical music and it sounded really bad but I could make out the basic melody

edit

I got it to play my calculator music really well but the electrolytic capacitors I had exploded in the middle of the Mario theme
