Hey Electric Genie, a little bit of searching resulted in coming across this multi-layer inductor calculator :

According to this calculator, your coil has an inductance of 1012.98 μH. Have a look around. Different calculators are available and use different variables to calculate the inductance (wire gauge wasn't used for this one)

Cheers,

Matthew

Thanks Matthew.
That is a really cool inductor calculator. Gosh though, i figuered that it wouldn't be anything near 200uH but it comes out to be huge, really supprised me. Although i'm sure it isn't terrible accurate but it's probably pretty close. I've looked around quite a bit for inductor calculators but most of them involve wire guage, which I don't think is very accurate if i'm using 22 awg wire that has insulation on it. I think most of the calculators are assuming your using magnet wire. I'm glad that the air core inductor can be smaller than the one I have now though, be easer to fit into my driver design. Thanks again. cheesey

[Update]: Ok got it all wired up, using that large air core coil I talked about earlier. It's over kill on the uF value but I was just testing to see if everything is all wired correctily and to work the bugs out.... Here's a short video I shot of it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbb9bM2TxQs It's just running on 12 Volts, haven't checked how many Amps but the supply will do 25 Amps. Excuse the cluttered work space and the winpy primary windings, i'll beef those up soon. cheesey I'm very happy with the results, loads better than the 2n3055 driver. The Mosfets don't even seem to even get warm or any of the other compoents. I'll try it with some other flybacks too, maybe i'll get a better result with other ones. This one I'm using though is quite large.
