Was reading Tesla's patent on electromagnets using bifilar windings. http://www.magnetricity.com/NeoG/Bifilar.php I am wondering if anyone has tried using a series wound bifilar primary in a TC before.. With the voltage rise that the bifilar achieves, I would think that it would be a great addition to the tank circuit.
Any thoughts?

If you read that patent, you can see that Tesla just intended to use the extra self-capacitance of a bifilar wound coil to achieve some sort of resonance. When we build Tesla coils for spark production, we connect a tank capacitor to the primary that is orders of magnitude bigger than the self-capacitance of the primary coils. So it doesn't really matter how they are arranged. The extra capacitance of the bifilar winding is not enough to make any difference to the sparks.
