Cold plasma

Would this cold plasma always have to look like a beam? Ive seen what plasma from the plasma from grapes microwave experments looks like, that would be great if it was possible to make plsama like that and keep it at room tempreture.

I suppose it makes sence, you can have cold gass and hot solids.

Actually, it goes back to the end of the 19th century. Laroussi has figured out a way to keep it cool by injecting electrons at a 1KHz rate.


I was referring specifically to ultracold plasmas that are produced from laser cooled neutral atoms starting with a temperature in the microkelvin range.

"Cold" in the context of a plasma indicates that the electrons and ions are not at the same temperature. The electrons are much "hotter", that is they are moving faster and as such have greater kinetic energy. "Non-thermal" and "Non-equilibrium" are some other common terms used. Most plasmas that we would commonly encounter are "cold".

Under 300microKelvin. Amazing thinking of a plasma at that temperature. From what I've read, the plasma recombinds much faster than current theory can explain.
