Half bridge and GDT finaly working

 		The title baisicly says it all. I finally made a working half bridge with two IRFP460 and two 250V 0.47uF capacitors, no high speed diodes and zenners for protection added yet. Firstly I tested it with a flyback and got some pretty good results. cheesey

The circuit that I used to drive the half bridge is from CTC-labs and it works great. wink
And the gate driver works great to.
Now I just need to put it in to TC use. tongue

 		What's clicking in the background when you draw the arcs? Sounds Like It may lead to failure.

 		hi,

I just have a question on this part I outlined in red. Circuit In the red box I don't understand how that small part of the circuit functions. I see it controls the on and off time but as to its operation I am confused.

 		that is used to control on and off time independently of each other. diodes and resistors arranged in a way such that a different R is used in the charge cycle and discharge cycle of the RC circuit.

That clicking is me turning on and off the power to the half bridge to avoid catastrophic failure. tongue

 		Otherwise what do you think of the performance of it?
I get better sparks with a flyback form a computer monitor, but because the voltage is so high I burned two because I didn't put it in oil. tongue (it is just too messy)And I could probably get better sparks if I would use a better power supply with more current rather then a small step-down transformer (220V-115V). angry

 		Upgrade to 220V then. I use 25 primary turns and around 100kHz when I run my flybacks offline. Looks like you're getting decent results at 115V, so 220V should be great.

 		Yeah but I'm kinda afraid of running it on 220V. But I'll probably do it.(I'll probably also have to submerge the flyback in oil to avoid breakout) angry

 		Hehe, you can limit current by using a higher frequency. Just set it really high and bring it down until the flyback starts saturating. At 100kHz I can run flybacks forever, with no heating of anything. (more or less wink )
