My dad got a rather large block of lead for cheap, (6-8" thick, probably 15-18" in each direction) He needed to cut them into reasonable sized pieces for his plumbers pot to cast them into 5lb ingots for when he casts bullets for his muzzle loader carbine.
Sawzall would just jam up with the chips, circular saw would bind, we don't have a bandsaw, which would be ideal with the right blade. So he goes out to a rental place, and gets an electric jackhammer with a wide tip for it, he cut up some, I cut up the rest of the block.
All I have to say is, lead is more plastic then most plastics,

I cut some thick scrap lead (about 4" thick) with a sawzall once so I could fit it in a pot to be melted down. It was difficult and bound up a lot, and made my arms sore. It took a long time. I tried chopping it with an axe at first, then a heavy maul, but that didn't work very well, it was too hard.
I melt it into thin electrode strips which I digest with AC electrolysis (about 4VAC per cell) in sulfuric acid to rapidly sulfate the lead. This way the insoluble lead sulfate, which rapidly falls away as a fine powder, can be separated from the soluble tin and antimony sulfates, which can later be separated with crystallization. The sulfate can then be smelted to gain pure lead (and the SO2 in the flue gases from that can be distilled at 50psi, catalyzed to SO3 and converted back to oleum and then sulfuric acid).
