Well, under certain conditions it makes a huge difference how much current passes.
Take one of those positive temperature coefficient heating elements that are made out of some kind of semiconductor, heat to a high temperature; keep the temperature constant and, using test currents ranging from milliamps to several amps, measure the resistance several times. You will find that the resistance is anything but constant; nowhere near it in fact. I should put "resistance" in quotes because, it doesn't have physical primacy. It's a ratio of voltage and current, which are primary physical quantities. Resistance is a secondary physical phenomenon, an artifact that you can only calculate from those other primary quantities.
