hi guys, I was thinking about building an audio modulated sstc to plug into a guitar. I was thinking about something that will put out at least 4-6 arcs. I was thinking about using a 555 timer to generate a pulse from the guitar. then using some sort of power transistor to feed possibly a half bridge sstc. I really dont know much about sstc's in the first place, but I am more than willing to learn. I set up a simple ignition coil circut with the guitar feeding the a 555 which in turn fed a ne3055 npn transistor, but that didnt end up working to well, I think i went out of the frequency response range. In short Im asking if anyone here thinks that it is possible or could recommend a sstc that an extreme novice could use for this sort of set up, I would much appreciate it. Thanks

How many flybacks or SSTCs have you done? I suggest you start with an audio modulated flyback arc, if you haven't made a SSTC before. Steve Conner has a good flyback driver with audio modulation. If you're really bent on making an audio modulated SSTC, Build a regular SSTC, with a TL494 as the oscillator. Then just hook up the audio modulation as shown in the scopeboy flyback driver. Google "SSTC TL494" and you should find all you need. An audio modulated SSTC isn't a novice project, since a simple antenna feedback SSTC can't be modulated easily, you'll need to use complicated controller chips and such. Good luck!
