Would Wiring/Processing (or whatever language the Arduino uses) be a good first programming language

I'm getting an Arduino for my birthday and have minimal experience in BASIC and Logo .
I'm just wondering. I can understand basic C and basic Wiring, but I've never actually tried it.

It looks very straight forward, just start with some simple tutorials like flashing a LED and you should be fine.

Wiring looks like a very nice language for someone still easing into programming. It has a syntax that is loosely modeled on C, which is good since so many other languages are also modeled around C syntax. The language itself looks simple and well worded to give a nice basic understanding of micro controller operation as well.
