Has anyone found suitable ISOTOP/TO227 IGBTs for 100kHz DRSSTC duty other than HGT1N30N60A4D / HGT1N40N60A4D?

If no, is there a good source for HGT1N40N60A4Ds that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Cheers all,
James

If you ask Dan McCauley nicely, he may sell some to you. Be respectful of the fact they're *very* hard to come across.

The popularity of the Fairchild 40N60 was primarily due to its early easy availability and package type, which makes it easy to install / remove.

Performance wise, almost any IGBT with similar ratings will work for most of the smaller to mid-size DRSSTCs. Sure, the thermal characteristics of the SOT-227 package are much better than a TO-247, but if your DRSSTC is running properly (i.e. good soft switching), you'll find heat dissipation to be very minimal. My IGBTs barely get warm after running them, even after significant periods.

I've had lots of luck with the following low-cost IGBTs from IXYS.

Of course, there are other vendors selling similar parts.
