I posted a message in sale and trade, but I felt I should address the "question" part here. Other than aesthetics, is there any guide for choosing a ratio for the primary and secondary diameters for a toroid? I know that they affect the capacitance, but one can design two toroids with different D1 and D2 values that still have the came C.
I have a 6" secondary and was planning on getting a 6" x 24" toroid. Any problems if the secondary diameter is 5"?

There are two parameters you can independently vary when designing a toroid.
1. Capacitance (overall dimensions)
2. Max. Voltage (determined by edge diameter only)
