Ok, I have a wrt54g wireless ap/router, and it is doing it job just fine. But, I need to forward a few more ports on it, which shouldn't be too hard save the fact that I lost the password to it years ago... I could to a hard reset, but that means that I need to change all of the settings on it again, and I am not looking forward to that So I want to do a brute force on it, which should be possible since I know the username is null, so I only need to guess the password.
I am also using a linksys AP (which uses the same password system) that I do know the password to, so I have been testing on that one, but I haven't managed to find a program that works with it... First I tried brutus, using a password file with about 100 random passwords, and one that I knew was the correct one, but couldn't find any combination of settings that would cause it to pick the right one (always it chose the 1st or none of them). Then I decided to try hydra, but couldn't get it to compile properly...

My passwords usually contain multiple combinations of characters on the keyboard that are easy to type quickly, for example:
perhaps 'ewq' then some symbols and numbers, then something like 'lkj'... with varying degrees of capitalisation, etc.
If I've lost a password, I make a list of all my combinations... then write a little program in C++ to create a dictionary file from every combination/permutation of these strings of conveniently-keyable characters...
It probably sounds really weird, but depending on how you choose/remember your passwords, you might be able to get something like this to work for you.

I tried a lot of the passwords I could think of, but it is just really slow to sit there anre try every possible password I might have thougt to use back then... I was hoping to automate things a little
