Finally nice to see Tesla get some credit and exposure to the general public in this Warner Brothers-Touchstone motion picture titled THE PRESTIGE, released on DVD in the USA yesterday. As most of us know here on this board, Tesla is largely responsible for the modern world we live in, yet the average Joe barely recognizes his name, much less gives him credit that is due. Nikola Tesla is played by David Bowie who portrays Tesla as a secluded, intelligent, insightful and somewhat mysterious fellow. This movie depicts some spectacular Tesla lightning bolts (likely computer generated) and the lighting of dozens of light bulbs by placing them in the ground using the earth as the conductor - miles away from the electricity production site, a high voltage electric fence (that knocks people to the ground when they touch it) surrounding Telsa's property and some other cool Tesla stuff. Ironically, this movie also gives credit to Tesla for developing a technology that has not been invented yet (at least not to my knowledge). Fans of Tesla will want to see this DVD, eventho it is certainly not 100% historically accurate. See some clips of it here Link2 CM

This was on chatting board ages ago. Didn't attract much attention, though, and I don't see what should this thread be doing in HV forum. Link2

Been getting a lot of that comment lately. Anywho, my other threads remain among the highest viewed in recent history on this site, but no one can hit a home-run each post. Relevance is 1) Tesla-one of the greatest inventors in history particularly when it comes to HV, 2) High voltage demonstrations, 3) depictions of transmission of power using the earth as the conductor... all in glowing high definition for you to watch in your robe and slippers in the comfort of your home. I'm not pretending this is a huge deal, but it was interesting to this one 4hv.org member, so it might be to a few others too. CM
