Better get your cameras ready . . .
Comet McNaught is coming (or rather already) your way . . .

This comet has already put on a fantastic show for us here in the North, and now its your turn. I managed to see the comet this past weekend in the sky during broad daylight around noon, tail and everything . . .

hi Dan,
I've tried multiple times, but maybe can't see low enough on the horizon. Will take pix if it's promising! (i.e. not a vapour trail =-)

Here's the tipoff for Sydneysiders:
SMH - Halley-beating comet to glow in the sunset

I'm pretty close to the equator over here. I'm hoping to catch a view of it this evening before the sun sets, but my schedule is all wrong. I'm just waking up as the sun is setting. Maybe I'll drag myself out of bed an hour early tonight. Think a camera with 12x optical zoom will be able to get a good look at the coma?

You guys should still be able to see it naked eye in broad daylight. Try blocking the sun with a building (for example), and then looking around 7 degrees from the sun (about a fist at arms length)

At sunset, try looking immediately at sunset. It should be again probably only 10 degrees above the horizon.

Dave, Yes, a point and shoot is all you need to capture this baby. Its just so bright!!!

I've only just seen this post... But took lots of pics.
Still very visible yesterday after the Australia Day fireworks.

I got some good pics, but didn't have the quite the show you guys had up here in the northern hemisphere. We were able to photograph just the tail in the past week or so in the northern hemisphere.
