... or death ray more like?

I'm surprised this is allowed on eBay, it could do some serious damage in the wrong hands!

$100 is practically gratis if that thing works at all...

The diode is mounted in a NICE heat sink assembly with a collimator / focusing lens. When focused to a point it is easily capable of cutting through many materials. This diode is capable of up to MULTIPLE WATTS of 800-810nm IR and has a built in thermal sensor. NOTE: PIN OUT/ SAFETY DATA for the diode will be supplied.

Author doesn't provide much tech specs with it, though.

Wow. Just wow. Someone here ought to buy that, rig up a modulation scheme, and try to make some contacts via moonbounce.

I am not sure about the UK ebay, but in the US there has been a HUGE influx of high power lasers. Eveything from 50w fiber coupled monsters to my 20w unmounted bars.

2 months ago when I started watching the market a diode like that would go for ~$500. Now I doubt it would break $200, probably closer to $100. I saw a few 20w fiber coupled modules go for $120. suprised

Just be warned, that module isn't anywhere close to being cumlinated, the beam coming out is total crap for anything other then pumping a Nd:YAG rod or as a laser welder. It is nearly impossible to get a decent beam strait out of the laser, really you need to build a Nd:YAG laser pumped by a laser like that if you want a 'real' laser with a round beam that has a few mR of divergence.

If anyone is interisted I has ~25 20w and ~20 50w unmounted (but I am working on changing that, just need time) 808nm bars. Just sold a 20w for $70 on the US ebay.
