Under Windows 10, the HP Scanjet 6300c worked without problems. After an automatic update to a new version of Windows 10, the scanner stopped working. Despite much work, I could not use the scanner anymore. Please, does anyone have any advice?

Have you already tried installing the drivers again? I don't like w10 much, so I'm still in w7... But if you go to control panel, then devices and printers, there should be your printer. Then you right click on printer, search for drivers tab or button, there should be an option to update drivers. It is a first try. Otherwise I would just manually download the drivers and install them, maybe in compatibility mode.

For debugging you can try VueScan (the free version is fine for testing) If it does not work with your printer there are some other issues that needs to be sorted out.
If it works then you know it is a software problem.

I got a hint to undo the update from Windows 10 to the previous version from Windows 10. I was lucky. After restoring to the previous Windows version 10, the HP 6300C scanneris running again with the same program and driver as before the update.

I fully agree.
But the last official drivers for the HP ScanJet 6300c from HP are only for Windows XP:

Thanks for the heads up! Does anyone have any relevant experience with the HP C4 please? Not letting me change cartridges, suspect damaged in post but missed the RMA deadline.
