I've actually noticed a related effect in pyrolytic graphite, while tinkering with heating it electrically.
Perhaps this is similar, the voltage I was seeing after disconnecting power was in the 3-700mV range for a few seconds, but at the time thought it was experimental error or dodgy interconnects. Only happened with one sample out of six tested but still worth documenting. Also saw similar effect when "zapping" it with a laser so appears to be some sort of heat sensitivity issue.
nb: I intend to replicate this ASAP, as all the materials are here. Not sure how much effect pyro grade BaCO3 will have but there's only one way to find out
