Are you after a generic driver, and vid is the only name, pid is the process name, and I think you are using a service pack, and isn't that Windows. Open the case, and find the motherboard name id and search on the manufacturer website, and for the motherboard driver, and it will be in there

Thanks for your help! I will try this, pretty sure there is a generic driver as the board is 64 bit. Did notice that Atom machines are no longer supported by 10 CE (creators edition) so there is no guarantee it will work even if it was upgraded to 10.

Indeed, upon checking it seems Lubuntu will support it up to 17.x but no guarantees after that. Guess its time to pitch that old 4.5+ year old dinosaur and get something that isn't EOL unless I can find a way to enable an Itunes-like interface for Lubuntu or some emulation. If anyone wants a perfectly good netbook that will probably work with Ubuntu or 7 Starter (limited to 2GB RAM) make me an offer.
EDIT: In the market for a 7 x64 retail key from a scrap Acer laptop, ideally with Intel Core CPU. Apparently it is (contrary to popular belief) legal to transfer the key once if the motherboard is verifiably trashed, I have done this twice on my old XP b0xen the most recent time after its AMD chipset went bad on a "routine" update. If it has DDR3 then chances of it working are much higher and sending me the back panel with the key would be acceptable. I've already done this on my Toshiba with a C650D as its motherboard was broken, to get a free 10 upgrade and so far no problems. Also helps if you have the Wifi card so hardware won't be entirely new, happy to pay a fair price for the two.
