Hi all.
got me thinking, what if it is possible to prove the existence of TGFs in far more storms as well as identifying their mechanism of production and further investigating the physics? The big problem is that the existing network of sensors (eg uRADmonitor) is not really designed for this, although a relatively simple modification might be able to add both MSF/Droitwich to these enabling triangulation of any detected pair production as well as atomic clock (if available) feedback for fine tuning of the GPSDO's OCXO module.
Have contacted Radu Motisan on this, he is probably too busy but if you read this PLEASE can you PM me as it would be useful to get your feedback.
The big advantage with uRADMonitor is that a firmware and module upgrade would add extra sensors, notably a magnetometer and optical photon sensor for just under £15. The AD500-8 is better here as it is a well known part and easy to set up with salvaged projector/binocular lenses and 3D printed casing/PCB reducing costs to sensible levels.
My current system is basically identical, I've increased sensitivity on the tube by around 50% simply by modifying the input circuitry with false count detection.

Thanks! Also it seems that accessing the data might be a problem, due to (redacted) real-time radiation monitoring is restricted. It might be possible as an academic at an accredited University to put in an FOIA request though?
