okay im planning to build a Drsstc (secondary is to be 5ft wound on 4 ' 3/16 " sch 35 pvc) my question is instead of using a midi - pwm interrupter, i was thinking why not just use a computer and generate the square wave using the pc soundcard, i can adjust duty cycle and On time (note length), etc with software play it trought the sound card and feed it into a small bjt to give the 5v level, plus i can be power from the pc so isolation inst really a problem pc <-> circuit wise (the circuit would drive and led which would in turn drive the fiber optic to the coil) using a virtual scope using the audio out loop into it the wave forms look better than i expected but need a little cleaning, i've attach a pic of the circuit and a snap of the waveforms, would something like this work?
