OMG, the funniest thing happend in my apartment while I was gone the other day. The management called the bombsquad, HAZMAT, and the police because they thought I was making bombs and other terrorist devices!They were here for two hours searching every bit of my place!Turns out, NOTHING here is illegal, none of the stuff I have was under suspicsion, and quote by the seargent in charge of the "bust", "Looks like a very clever, talented engineering student doing what he ought to be doing". "No need to worry".

What is with people?People are really REALLY in need of some better education pertaining to physics and chemistry!Thats American education for you! "Well he has acetone and paper towels! It must be a bomb!" Police->"No it looks like he was cleaning some things over here..."

cheesey cheesey cheesey tongue

Wow. I wonder how management got wind of your activities? Maybe they were in your apartment without your knowledge? Pretty low. You have to be glad the cops were nice, they usually have no patience for unusual hazmat materials. I know they wouldn't like my garage...

It's good to hear that the investigation was handled sensibly. I would have expected it to be much more of a pain in the ass.

The management here doesnt like me for some reason. I know they come in on a regular basis, several times a week checking the vacant rooms. Most the maintenence people are inbred redneck types who dont know poo from pee...Good thing law enforcement here is a bit brighter than the average retard!They were going to find me for questioning until it became apparent that I wasnt a terrorist! I may write a letter to the newspaper here, let the students know what they do here. Maybe sue for some pyschoogical damages wink

Must have been quite a shock !

Many many years ago during the Christmas - New Year break just for fun
I put some Nitrogen tri-iodide contact explosive around in my workplace.
When I came in after the new year there was all kinds of commotion;
I forgot about the cleaners
who called security, fire etc. etc.
Luckily for me my boss covered for me
even more lucky it was before terrorism AND before I became a muslim
I can't immagine what would happen now!

Needless to say I've dropped the explosives part of my hobbies
shame because I used to love it.

I'm still waiting for the day I get searched. That probably won't go over too well. They probably won't like the amount of Magnesium and oxidizers I have lying around. However, I am under the 5lb legal limit! so their hands are kinda tied there.

I have had the F.D. show up and snoop around a bit, but they said everything looked in order because my jugs were labelled.

I think we all go through the pyro phase, and its unfortunate that science-minded people are suspects of crimes when the only crime is curiosity.

I think good lab practice helps because they see proper storage of chemicals, labeled and safe in a lockable cabinet.

The aggrivating thing is that they just come in w/o letting me know. Many times ive been naked in the kitchen tongue

They accused me earlier of making bombs when they saw a vacuum tube laying on the table. I explained everything to them then...

Like the seargent explained to them, I dont have anything illegal, or even border line illegal. All common stuff except for chloroplatinic acid confused

Oh well, little do they know Ive already signed a new lease somewhere else wink

Did they bother with a warrant, or did the management just let them in? Know your rights. They can't barge in whenever they feel like it.

83.53 Landlord's access to dwelling unit.--

(1) The tenant shall not unreasonably withhold consent to the landlord to enter the dwelling unit from time to time in order to inspect the premises; make necessary or agreed repairs, decorations, alterations, or improvements; supply agreed services; or exhibit the dwelling unit to prospective or actual purchasers, mortgagees, tenants, workers, or contractors.

(2) The landlord may enter the dwelling unit at any time for the protection or preservation of the premises. The landlord may enter the dwelling unit upon reasonable notice to the tenant and at a reasonable time for the purpose of repair of the premises. "Reasonable notice" for the purpose of repair is notice given at least 12 hours prior to the entry, and reasonable time for the purpose of repair shall be between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The landlord may enter the dwelling unit when necessary for the further purposes set forth in subsection (1) under any of the following circumstances:

(a) With the consent of the tenant;

(b) In case of emergency;

(c) When the tenant unreasonably withholds consent; or

(d) If the tenant is absent from the premises for a period of time equal to one-half the time for periodic rental payments. If the rent is current and the tenant notifies the landlord of an intended absence, then the landlord may enter only with the consent of the tenant or for the protection or preservation of the premises.

(3) The landlord shall not abuse the right of access nor use it to harass the tenant.

I'm sure you're glad the police saw it your way, and we can all laugh at the story because it had a happy ending. However, I'd be pretty pissed off if I had just been violated in that manner.
