Hi , to make a long story short , I got some parts left over and I decided to make a crude simple smps out of them.the kain parts are the bux98a npn bjt's , which are quite powerful, so I was thinking taking class A basic design remowing the base +ve resistors so that the transistors dont stay open all the time creating a lot of heat and just using them to drive the bux98 npn's which would then drive a transformer primary.
I have basically two questions, first one is , I have attached two schematics tell me which one doesnt work, because I was having a discussion at one other place and someone told me that I can't route back the transformer primary to the filter capacitor middle point.What do you think? the other schematic shows a normal primary were as each one of he transistors conducts current is being transferred through each of the sides.
the other question is can I drive the MJE15032 directly from the 555 chip , (which is already up and running) or it would be good to add one more stage before the MJE15032, a mje340 for example ?the question is whether the 555 would be capable of directly driving the MJE15032, I think it would be better to add the mje340, what's your opinion?
