In a circuit like this, how should the transformer that drives MOSFET gates be built?
In the past I made a circuit that didn't work because I used a wrong ferrite ring. What ring am I looking for and how many windings of what wire diameter?
Do I need to rectify the power input with a diode, considering that I live in a 120VAC country? Is this diode mission-critical?

"Is this diode mission-critical?" Yes.
"how should the transformer that drives MOSFET gates be built? " Use the 3E25 or 3C90 ferrite materials toroid. The dimensions of toroidal core are TN32. Buy TN32-3E25

I looked at the datasheets, I am shopping for a TN32/19/13-3C90 core, Or a 3F3 core. My TC will not be a very high frequency one. Maximum of 1 mhz. I am aiming for less.

Ferrocube is a UK product that isn't cheap in the US. Is there a cheaper alternative that is less than $20 that can work as a gate driver transformer ring within frequency ranges given? Thank you.

The core 495-3862-ND offers A(L) of 4620 nH/turn
while 3C90 and 3F3 offer A(L) of about 2000 nH/turn.
A(L) - A subscript L - that is nanoHenries or microHenries per turn of wire.
Looks like this value is twice as big for the new toroid you suggested. There is no frequency range mentioned anywhere in the datasheet.
So the question is still open. Thank you for help though.
Thank you. Can I replace IRFP250 s with some more powerful MOSFETs in this circuit to make it more suitable for higher currents? I live in teh United States and we have 120VAC here - therefore more current will flow through the primary to do the work. What replacement upgrade MOSFET would you recommend?

What GDS toroidal core is used in this project:
"Its a N30 material ferrite toroid, properly around 30 mm in outer diameter. Find one with a permability above 4000."
Read the page comments, you can find lots of information there.
I read it but is it a circuit author who is answering? Is permeability more important or uH/turns?
The toroids on DigiKey with permeability of 4000 are expensive, large and it looks like they aren't for GDT purposes. Why are there so many circuits that use GDT and so little informetion about how to choose ferrite cores for them?
