I see the problem here, if people are forced by peer pressure to succeed no matter what the physical or psychological cost then could "brain burning" be a new disease in its own right by say 2025 ?
The problem as described by a pharmacist I spoke to is that drugs like modafinil may give short term gains to someone with ADHD but when taken just to enhance concentration/retention/etc in someone who is of normal cognitive abilities is similar to using the wrong fuel octane in an engine. It might give a short term boots but do serious damage in the longer term.
Some previous employers mentioned this is why they prefer not to employ people with ADHD (ie the crash) and my current one is totally against any enhancement whatsoever even prohibiting use of caffeine supplements and energy drinks.
