Consdering the ratings, 3 Kv, 100 uF and a price of $144, sounds too good to be true

Seems impossible. Maybe much less capacitance or much less voltage.

It could be correct, considering the dimensions of 120mm x 123mm.

For comparison, I have a few oil-filled defibrillator capacitors from General Atomics which aren't any bigger at all, but they are rated 2kVDC (3kV surge) and 110uF. They are rectangular and roughly 120mm x 100mm x 75mm (I'm not at home so they're just ballpark figures). These caps were less than $50 each, sold on eBay as "new old stock."

The stated 3kVDC rating is probably the absolute upper limit. For a reasonable safety margin I would consider that to be the "surge" rating, and probably wouldn't ever push them beyond 2kV.

For starters, its not pulse rated, that's just the voltage rating before it will start having leakage issues.

I've made several satisfactory purchases from that vendor... not that particular cap tho.

These are on ebay for over $200! and I thought it was a sale. Something about it always catches my eye.. but $144 !! Now I would look for the data sheet on it.
