The only thing that doesn't make sense about this thread is, why would anyone buy more than one V12 Jag? Wasn't the first one punishment enough? smile

'Punishment'?.....Only on the wallet.....but I was contributing by paying extortionate 'indirect taxes'.

It's a long story....My mother 'stole' the first two wink

EDIT: I was once asked why I drove a V12 Jag. My response was 'Because I can't afford an Aston Martin'......I've now reached the point in life where I think a Saab 95 estate is more practical.....

You may need to use a $7 shunt to read the correct range:

Shunt? You call that a shunt?
What if I need to move the stalled car using starter motor?

Thanks for the tip about low-cost panel volt-amp meter.

Just a quick note modern cars learn what you want to do through adaptive S/W this can take a week or two of driving for it to learn what you prefer. Disconnecting the battery for 5 mins resets all these learned parameters so it will take time before it behaves like you are used to.
besides the am/fm radio loosing its presets so does the engine /transmission. even a a 12 drycell pack will keep it alive while you change batteries

A counter current could be applied while monitoring the voltage drop at the point of interest
in the circuit. If the meter was nulled, i.e, zeroed before the counter curent was applied, it would show a negative voltage at the point when the counter current exceeded the spurious or leakage current. The counter current at the point of balance is what you want.

At the battery terminals for a small load, given the crud of contact, unlikely to succeed .

But across each of the fuses, this might work. No need to pull them.

The whole issue boils down to what an old potentiometer, with Weston Standard Cell,
and galvanometer, did in past years. The object was to balance the voltage bridge with
a dry cell, rather than drawing current from the standard cell.

These days we have cheap 6 digit DVMs to measure low voltage.

I have used somewhat similar tactics. Bit then again, I once
shorted out a 48 volt forklift battery by mistake, burning up much wire.

So take care. confused

There are memory savers for ten dollars to preserve radio and clock settings.

Cigarette lighter plug in. 9 volt battery.
