Hi all.
I'm sure you've heard about the latest battery recall, now affecting 5 brands of laptops.

It looks like the bad cells may be in everything from portable DVD players to phones..

Apparently there's a good chance that the batteries CE and UL ratings may be withdrawn, meaning anyone who owns an affected machine is not covered under insurance in the event of a fire.

Expect the insurance companies to start refusing to pay out shortly after.

With this and the PS3 disaster (they are predicting a $500M loss in the first year), there's a good chance Sony stocks will be nearly worthless very soon.

I advise anyone who owns stocks in SCEE to sell them right now, before the panic starts.

Or simply sell some of their stock short and capitalize on their losses.

Sorry to burst the bubble for all of you who want to make a quick buck, but if the news is already out then the event is already priced into the stock. You can see this by looking at it on Yahoo Finance. If something happens and it gets *even* worse then there is money to be made; however, Sony can turn things around and the stock can rebound.

If is not as easy as you might think.

It might be a better idea to buy now, whilst it's low... Things may rebound for ol'e Sony. Then again, maybe not. The money-inna-sock meathod of investment banking seems far more secure to me; it's where I keep all the negative dollar bills I'm making at University. dead
