That's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime photo (mainly because you would be too scared to fly your glider through another storm!).
I wonder what part of Australia it was taken in? Looks like somewhere in the more temperate southern areas, but it can also be very green and stormy up north during the wet season.
There was a pair of very impressive, fast moving thunderstorms the other day. It was the first time I had seen "proper" spider-lightning, where a few bolts would track along the underside of the cloud. It was surprising since I live in a valley and I had thought that spider lightning was only common in flatter regions. When the storms were still distant I also saw a couple of monster bolts originating in the upper anvil of the cloud, they were very bright and snaked around the cloud towards the ground (positive strikes?). Sadly I didn't get any photos, but I don't think I could have timed them correctly with my phone anyway.
