Yes, it used thermionic Tubes and no, I didn't throw it away I gave it to a guy who restores old valve equipment as a hobby / side income.
I bought a cheap AD9851 based DDS sig-gen off eBay ... up to 50 MHz sinewave ... I'm pleased with it but the designer copied the output anti-aliasing filter from AD app. notes ... for the wrong impedance ! Made a new output filter and added a balanced output transformer now it's very good. I buy stuff like this because some time ago I promised myself not to do any more software as it consumed all of my spare time and attention, and my wife wasn't too happy !

those wives... mine promised I'd have a room for my stuff in the next house...
all is in boxes now for the kid's playroom (I must admit I encouraged it, though)
