Hi all.
Apologies but upon consulting others with Phd's in the subject it seems that the following hypothesis is correct.
The materials on super*****.org are NOT in fact superconducting, the phenomenon discovered is actually a form of magnetoresistance highly dependent on temperature. The reasons I have to believe this are:-
1) No independent replications of even a hint of HTSC above 164K 2) The materials proposed show such a small resistance change that even if they did work they would be useless at even cryogenic temperatures. 3) No (as in zero) improvement since early 2002 when even Y123 was reformulated within a year. 4) Not even a hint of any commercial product 5) Not even a mention of these "miracle materials" in any other peer reviewed scientific journal.
We might be wrong about this but the only way the author can convince would be to send samples of his materials to universities etc for independent analysis.
I genuinely feel sorry for the guy, from the sound of it he has spent a fortune on his research and probably made significant advances in making thin films which are in themselves valuable, but if he wants recognition a 0.03% useable fraction needs to be at least 10% to even be considered.
Levitating a magnet without LN2 and a clear unambiguous resistance plot showing a superconducting transition AND the Meissner effect would be evidence in his favour.

From what i understood, the materials presented there are not practical superconductors, and are not claimed to be.
The point is that there is a discontinuity in resistance, similar to what is happening in superconductors. This means that a fraction in the material is/might be superconducting.
How is that useful? Theoretical understanding. If the fraction can be isolated, or the mechanism for it's formation understood, then we might get actual superconductors.
At least that's what it looks like to me, if i were to assume he is not intentionally deceiving. It can certainly be some other effect at work, like magnetoresistance.

Yeah, in fact I may have figured out how to make a 229K material, and it is entirely possible that had I not been so obsessed with "the other site" it might have been made a year ago as this was discussed with someone online.
Ironically the same CDW effect which is preventing bulk HTSC above 164K (HgBaCuxOx > 6000 atmospheres) is the same effect that might *maybe* make my material(s) superconductive. Formula written down, going to attempt to synthesize ASAP and will post results if any.
