Yeah, I think they use high rate LiPo's which are good for a few months of storage. I did wonder if storing them fully charged is actually bad due to anode corrosion, maybe they have fixed this now?

I agree that it is much easier to keep a fully charged battery handy for jump starting and that is infect how I have been doing it for years now. I decided to build this jump starter because I have rescued these transformers from the dump and want to use them for something handy. I already have quite a lot of arc welders, I have a decent ups, I've build a 2.6Kw spot welder. The jump starter was the only thing I could think of that I can use them for. If I can build it big enough that it can crank a decent size diesel Engen continuously, it would be handy not only for starting, but can be very handy for bleeding a diesel engine.
