Fortunately it was on a flare star 60LY away, and despite being an X100,000 or Z1000 which would have rather bad effects on any inhabited planets such as effectively liquefying organics it may not totally fry shielded electronics if they were deep underground and the shield was superconducting with a very high quench current ie MgB2 etc.
If this is the case machine intelligences or other non organic life such as quasicrystalline silicon/magnesium "microbes" may arise on such planets if they last long enough.
