Looks legit, Te is already used in many thermoelectrics so the properties are pretty exotic.

Can anyone get hold of TeO2, its easy enough to get tellurium metal but I need the oxide.

EDIT: Te is also used in some older optical rewriteable disks and is likely to be iron free, it is possible to extract it from that source if the disk (presumably DVD) is "split" and the layer removed with a mild solvent.
CDRWs are also used in Minidisks (finally a use for the damnable things!!!!!) and this is likely to be nearly pure GeSbTe with no nasty impurities.

As far as i understood it, they only found a superconducting fraction in the material, as shown by a presence of a meissner transition.

So, the material is not superconducting in any useful sense.

TeO2 is a fairly common optical material, you can get a nice big block of it from an acousto-optical modulator, like Link2

Thanks for that. Do you know anyone with a few of these?

Also worth mentioning is that a lot of these super high Tc materials are much more sensitive to ferrous contamination, even a single iron atom will stop it working for hundreds of um around.
This means if I wanted to make some I'd need to recrystallize, assay etc the barium as well as the copper.

I spoke to Mr Eck, he is fine with people trying to replicate his work as long as they post any observations.

EDIT 2: I have now recrystallized some barium acetate.
Looks like bismuth oxide can be made in a similar way to iron oxalate, using a bismuth salt such as bismuth subsalicylate or bismuth citrate and introducing oxalic acid then oxidising the solid precipitate in air.
