Hi guys,

As I have redesigned my DRSSTC, I have found that finding materials for a sufficient MMC has become more and more difficult. I am hoping you guys might have some old parts you would be willing to part with.

My current design requires a final MMC value of ~250nF @ 8kv AC. My budget is quite limited, but if this sounds like something you might have the parts for, Please let me know. I would really appreciate it!

I have some items to trade, but I'm not sure how well they would match the cost of a capacitor bank. I guess just shoot me a price and we can work things from there!

Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Matt

These Link2 are the best deal I can find at the moment. Note that these guys often accept significantly lower offers than the listed price. 16 in series times two parallel strings would give you 250 nF at 8.5 kV AC (16 kV DC), an RMS current handling of 45A and a max peak current handling of 1.8 kA.

Hi Wolfram,

That's a great find. And those will work in an MMC? I've seen them used between the IGBT and heat sink to protect the transistors from primary strikes, but never as a tank cap.

Matt

Thanks guys! Just purchased the lot of 50. I bought a lot of 120 EPCOS caps from Mouser a few days ago, but soon realized they wouldn't be able to offer the required capacitance. Hoping to get them returned and refunded.

Regards,
Matt
